BOWLING FAQ

Do i need to book?

Bookings are highly recommended, especially during our typically busy periods like weekends and school holidays. You can find out more about making a booking here. Group events must be booked through our bookings coordinator (see above).

How many people per lane?

The maximum number of people per lane is 6. For groups larger than 6, we’ll need to split you over several lanes. And don’t worry, the lanes will (except in very rare circumstances) be right next to one another.

How long does a game take?

The amount of time it will take your group to bowl varies a lot depending on age of the bowlers and whether you’re eating/drinking while playing. As a rough guide, it takes about 10 minutes per person on the lane, per game. So, a group of four playing one game will take roughly 40 minutes, while a group of six playing two games will take close to 2 hours.

Also keep this in mind when booking your lanes! Bookings close to closing time may only have time for one game, or may need to be split over several lanes if you’re cutting it very close!

DO I NEED to wear the shoes?

Yes, you must wear the bowling shoes at Bowland. The thick, leather bowling shoes are important for safety (heavy balls and poorly protected feet do not mix!), they help protect the lane approach surface from dirt and grit from outside, and they help you bowl with proper technique.

can i have bumpers?

At Bowland Cranbourne, bumpers are only for kids 10 and under. This policy minimises damage to our equipment from teens and adults bowling against the bumpers. To keep things fair for everyone, this rule applies no matter your physical size, how heavy your ball is, or how hard you’re bowling. If you’re over 10 and need a few pointers to get the most out of your time bowling, please speak to one of our friendly staff!

do you accept the companion card?

Unfortunately, no. Carers are more than welcome to support their family member, friend or client with their bowling. However, if you as the carer also wish to bowl a game yourself, you will be charged the going disability/carer concession rate which is $15 for 1 Game and $30 for 2 Games.
